Malcolm joined Clifford Chance in 1983 and became a partner in 1990. He has a widely established reputation as a leading corporate finance lawyer, working internationally and most recently with a particular focus on the developing markets.
Malcolm spent four years in the Middle East and previously led the firm’s London banking group, and was Global Senior Partner from 2011 to 2019. He also chaired the firm’s Partnership Council and its Alumni Board.
Malcolm was appointed Pro Chancellor of the Open University on 1 January 2019 and is the Chair of the OU’s governing body as well as a member of its Governance, Finance, Remuneration and Investment Committees.
Malcolm was during 2011 to 2019 on the CityUK Advisory Council, The China Market Group (and a participant in the FSS attached to the UK/China Economic and Financial Dialogue) and on the Heart of the City Council. Malcolm currently is a European Advisory Board Member of The Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business; an Advisory Board Member of the China-Britain Business Council; Fellow of the 48 Club; and a Speaker for Schools.
