We’re delighted to share the news that on International Human Rights Day (10th December 2021), Dr Liliana Rotaru was awarded the 2020-21 United Nations General Award for an Outstanding Human Rights Achievement at national level in Moldova.  Dr Rotaru leads Hope and Homes for Children’s partner organisation CCF Moldova, which has been working towards childcare reform in the country alongside us since 2005. She’s successfully implemented several programmes in Moldova, most recently our 2020-21 Covid-19 Response, with generous support from Oak Foundation, Medicor Foundation and other significant funding partners.

We’re incredibly proud of her achievements in elevating human rights, and in particular children’s rights, up the national agenda during her 18 years of service.

On accepting the award, Liliana said,

“CCF Moldova, an institution that I have the honour to lead, is by the side of hundreds of families every year. In over 18 years of activity, we’ve helped over 6,000 children to remain with their families. Frequently, for many of our citizens, human rights are a luxury and often they need the community’s support to access them. Only when human rights and the rights of children become a norm in our society will things change for the better. We will continue standing by the side of the most important citizens of this country – children.”

Congratulations Liliana!
