Update on the Coronavirus pandemic

An update from our Chief Executive, Mark Waddington CBE, regarding the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

We are carefully monitoring and responding to the development of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Our primary concern is for the protection of the children and families we work with, as well as our staff and supporters.

We are following government guidelines in each of the countries where we operate, isolating where necessary to protect vulnerable groups of people—which includes postponing or cancelling gatherings, working remotely where appropriate, and ensuring we mitigate risks to health as far as we are able.

I am meeting regularly with our team to review the guidance given by the World Health Organisation (WHO), and the measures being implemented by different governments and in turn assessing different scenarios. We are also working in close partnership with likeminded NGOs to hold policymakers to account, and to ensure those most in need are supported during this unprecedented global emergency.

Our commitment to supporting children confined to orphanages, and those in vulnerable families, remains steadfast. They already struggle to survive and thrive with insufficient support, and this global crisis is certain to put them under even greater strain. It remains vital that, right now, we continue to help build and protect families and communities.

Thank you for your continued support. It’s more important today than ever before.

Mark Waddington CBE, Chief Executive
