Ian Jamieson has tackled many challenges in aid of Hope and Homes for Children, including our annual Triathlon and the Marathon des Sables. In September 2016 he took part in Ride Rwanda, a 212km off-road ride from Kigali through the ‘land of a thousand hills’.
“Ride Rwanda was an extraordinary adventure, I just didn’t know what to expect around each corner. Although a capable road cyclist, this challenge on mountain bikes was harder than I expected, but it was so much fun. It was even more special because I completed it alongside my son.
“I really believe that children do not want to be brought up in an orphanage but in a place that they can call home within a loving family. I mentioned to someone many years ago when you choose a charity, it’s not just for Christmas it’s for life! Get a friend or two to join you in a challenge. Do something you would never ordinarily do and enjoy the experience together!”
What other Ride Rwanda cyclists said about the event:
“Impeccably organised, the trip of a lifetime.” Mark Grinnoneau, Trustee
“The day we spent visiting projects was eye-opening, humbling and inspirational, so I would recommend any Support Group member to sign up” Chris Stanbury, South Wilts Support Group Chair
