Paddy Ashdown (The Rt Hon The Lord Ashdown of Norton-sub-Hamdon PC, KBE,GCMG) is a British politician and former diplomat. He was MP for Yeovil from 1983 to 2001 and leader of the Liberal Democrats from 1988 until August 1999. Later he was the international High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2002 to 2006.

When we began work in Romania in 1999 there were 100,000 children trapped in institutional care. Today the figure is less than 11,000 and the Romanian Government has committed to working with us to close every state run institution by 2020.
