Cycling the Americas
After 27 months of cycling, Dom Gill completed his journey from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, to the southernmost tip of South America. He travelled the length of the Americas on his tandem bike and raised over £5,000 for us.
This 26 year old thrill seeker was rarely alone on his 20,000 mile trip, which saw him pass through 15 countries. Part of the adventure was to give a lift to any willing passers-by – over 500 strangers took up the offer. His youngest companion was just months old (he was in a special trailer whilst his dad pedalled on the bike), and the oldest was 83 years old.
In his own words Dom says,
“This truly is the most challenging but rewarding thing I have ever done. It was absolutely incredible to meet so many people and I felt privileged to have had an insight into their lives. However, what really helped keep me going during the difficult uphill bits was knowing that the money I raised would transform the lives of vulnerable children in Central and Eastern Europe and Africa.”
