Dress down, mufti, home or own clothes days – call it what you will, it’s always a hit with children and young people. Why not have a simple variation on this great theme to inspire your pupils to aim high and fulfil their potential whilst helping vulnerable children in the process?
Primary School
Ask the children in your school to pay £1 to dress up as what they want to be when they grow up. Doctors, footballers, lawyers, pop stars – who knows who you have in your class. You could invite local business people or professionals to come in to tell your pupils what they do.
Secondary School
Everyone has someone they look up to and admire, so you could ask your students to come as that very person. From eminent historical figures to modern day heroes, your pupils can choose whoever they like. By paying a pound to take part they can be celebrities themselves for a day. Why not ask them to give a short presentation on who they are and why they respect this person?
Teachers
Why should your students have all the fun? You too can get involved in the action by dressing up as someone you admire or what you’d be if you weren’t a teacher?
