How often are you surprised and amazed by your pupils? By giving them free rein, they can do whatever they like to do best to raise money for disadvantaged children - and have fun in the process.

Talent show
As shows like Pop Idol and Britain’s Got Talent have shown, there’s no fun in hiding your light under a bushel. Your pupils (and you!) can shine by holding a talent show of your very own. Whether you run it in a lunch hour, on a Friday afternoon or on the last day of term, your event can be totally flexible. Simply create a sign-up list, sell tickets to the rest of your tutor group or school and prepare for the fun to begin. Why not select a judging panel for extra drama and they can crown the best act as the winners!

Art exhibition
If your pupils are more at home in front of an easel, you could hold an exhibition of their work. There’s a job for everyone who wants to be involved, from creating the art to hanging the exhibition or planning and managing the opening night. By inviting parents, pupils, local media and friends you can raise the profile of your school whilst celebrating your pupils’ talents. You could raise funds by auctioning the art, charging an entry fee or asking for donations.

And don’t forget the good old sponsored spell, silence, read, keepy uppie, hop, skip, jump, swim, cycle, walk … the possibilities are endless. They’re easy to organise - and your class can choose what they want to do and really play to their strengths.
