Chris is passionate about the vital and groundbreaking work of Hope and Homes for Children. He brings a wealth of specialist knowledge in child protection and early child development drawn from his experience in research, policy and service innovation. He is currently Director of Development at the Big Lottery Fund where he has a key role supporting local partnerships delivering the £215m A Better Start prevention programme.
Chris was formerly Head of Strategy & Development at children’s charity, the NSPCC, where he had national leadership roles for early child development and child neglect. He was Deputy Director of the Government’s Social Exclusion Task Force in the Cabinet Office and held a range of policy and research positions including in the Department for Education, the Children & Young People’s Unit and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
