Carol Haslam

Carol is a media professional with over 30 years’ experience in different broadcasting sectors. She started her career as a lecturer and trainee child psychotherapist, chancing on a career change while travelling in Ethiopia where she worked at the Educational Mass Media Centre in Addis Ababa.

After a subsequent decade as a BBC producer, she became the first Commissioning Editor for Documentary Series at Channel 4, focusing particularly on international series, environment, development and health. Next she was Director of Programmes for a pan-European satellite channel, and then MD of an independent production company.

She has held trustee roles in a range of NGOs in the areas of sustainable development and human rights, and chaired several international television and film festivals. She has worked and/or travelled in over 70 countries and also completed a Senior Executive Programme at the London Business School. She is married with two children and six grandchildren.
