Tune in to hear Kate Adie's Radio 4 Appeal for us

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a prestigious BBC Radio 4 Appeal. Our Patron and renowned journalist, Kate Adie OBE, made our appeal on Sunday 18 July at 7.55am and 9.26pm, and again on Thursday 22 July at 3.37pm – but you can hear it here online.

Every year BBC audiences dig deep to raise vital funds for charities through television and radio appeals. For the charities they feature, the appeals are a great way to raise awareness of their work alongside much needed donations – last year alone Radio Four listeners gave over £1.5 million to charitable causes. The Radio 4 appeal is a great opportunity for Hope and Homes for Children to reach thousands more people and tell them about the work we do.

Kate became a keen supporter of our work back in 1994 due to a chance encounter with Mark Cook, our Founder President. Mark had arrived in Sarajevo during the Bosnian war and was just about to broadcast an interview with BBC correspondent Martin Bell when a mortar splinter wounded the reporter. As the BBC’s chief news correspondent Kate was flown in to take over.

Since then Kate has seen much of our work first hand, most recently she visited Moldova where she met a few of the families we support, as well as children who have been reunited with their families.

Radio 4 can be found on the following channels FM 92-95, FM 103-105 or LW 198. You can also listen to the appeal online and donate on the BBC’s website from 18-25 July 2010.
