Our Big Apple runners raise over £6,000

This year’s ING New York City Marathon took place on 2 November and was a great success with our four runners raising over £6,900 to support our work.

Our runners, Jane Fishwick, John Fishwick, Tony Gaziano and Brent Madeira all travelled to the Big Apple to compete in what many consider the world's greatest road race. The course takes runners through the streets of New York's five boroughs: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan – crossing the finish line in Central Park.

The first New York City Marathon took place in 1970, and 38 years on the course still attracts over 100,000 applicants, two million cheering spectators and 315 million worldwide television viewers.

We’d like to say a big thank you to our runners for taking on the challenge to raise money to support children across Central and Eastern Europe and Africa.

Also, don’t forget to get your tickets for the Christmas Carol Concert.
