Laurien

Twenty year old Laurien is the head of his household and is responsible for his five younger brothers and sisters. He lives in Kigali, Rwanda, and with the help of a small business loan from us he has established a thriving business selling eggs at the local market. This was just part of the range of practical and emotional support we gave to Laurien and his family. Before we became involved the family members were living apart, facing their daily struggles on their own. Laurien is firmly on the path to self-sufficiency and the family has a real chance of an independent future.

Laurien said, “The greatest thing Hope and Homes for Children has done for my family was to bring us together. We were scattered due to difficult living conditions but now we are a family, we go through challenges together and try to find the solutions together. The micro-credit loan has empowered our family and I am able to contribute to the school fees and school materials for my brothers. I can buy food for the family and pay the house rent.”
