Ben Nevis Weekend Trek

June 2012, Scotland

The Scottish Highlands are full of enchantment with the ancient past all around. You will be overwhelmed on this three day trek on 15 - 17 June 2012 by the increasing remoteness and the unspoilt environment as you leave the lowlands.

Ben Nevis (Gaelic translation ‘Mountain of Heaven’) itself is the highest point in the British Isles and stands at the lofty height of 1343m, or 4000ft, above sea level. Fort William, on the southern edge of the Great Glen, is the nearest town and is located on a sea loch, we set up base here.

Our challenge takes us into the heart of the Nevis Range, a breathtaking mountainous land; our only goal is to reach the summit of Ben Nevis.

Guide itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive late afternoon for a full briefing about the weekend’s events and evening meal
Day 2: After a good breakfast we begin our ascent of Ben Nevis, it can take between 6 to 8 hours depending on weather conditions. We climb steadily to Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe, then tackle the famous Zig Zags, finally crossing the boulder field to the summit cairn. Time to rest and reflect before beginning our descent. Return to hotel for celebration meal
Day 3: After a good rest overnight we are free to make our way home.
